RNUNL Shows Support at WJAHL Nurses Night

February 24, 2025

On Wednesday, February 5, the Registered Nurses’ Union of Newfoundland and Labrador (RNUNL) proudly participated in a special Nurses and Students Night hosted by the Women’s Junior A Hockey League (WJAHL) at the Mary Brown’s Centre. The event recognized the essential contributions of nurses and students, with discounted tickets offered to healthcare professionals and their families.

Digital Communications Coordinator Dan Williams attended on behalf of the RNUNL, handing out RNUNL-branded Thunder sticks to fans and cheering alongside a lively crowd. The atmosphere was electric as Team Butler and the Eastern Ice Breakers delivered an unforgettable game filled with intensity and determination. Team Butler ultimately triumphed in a four-person shootout, tying for first place in the league standings.

The WJAHL plays a vital role in promoting women’s athletics and fostering community engagement. As a platform for elite female athletes aged 18–24, the league provides opportunities to develop both on and off the ice, preparing players for the next steps in their athletic and personal journeys. Through mentorship programs, youth clinics, and volunteer initiatives, the WJAHL connects deeply with the communities it serves—values that align with RNUNL’s mission to support and uplift its members and the broader community.

RNUNL is proud to support initiatives like the WJAHL, recognizing that sports play an important role in promoting wellness, empowerment, and teamwork. Events like Nurses and Students Night not only celebrate the profession but also strengthen ties between healthcare workers and the communities they serve.

Congratulations to Team Butler on their hard-fought victory, and to the WJAHL for an inspiring evening of hockey and recognition. We look forward to continuing our support for this incredible league!
